The book addresses the issue of inequality and inequity in access to education, with a particular emphasis on the role of educational policies. It does so by providing an overview of the main theoretical approaches to the issue and an inventory of existing indicators on which the research, political debates and policies have been centred, and by proposing an internationally comparable system of quantitative indicators.
