  • Job opening: Part-Time Public Relation specialist in CLOSER Project

A part-time position of PR specialist (0.5 FTE) is to be filled within the CLOSER project, funded by the European Research Consortium (ERC). This interdisciplinary project aims to explore social cleavages and party politics in the post-Ottoman space of the Middle East and North Africa.

The position is to be filled at the Institute of Sociology in a team of political scientists. CLOSER also encompasses two other teams: historians working at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and geographers at Brussels Free University (ULB). A postdoc will also be based at the Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR). Based at the Institute of Sociology, the PR specialist will be responsible for the communication of the whole project, and will also have to work also with the researchers and the communication teams of the four institutions.

Description of the position

The PR specialist will

  • manage communications for all the events (workshops, symposia, participation in conferences) related to the project (sending invitations; designing communication materials; online and offline promotion);
  • maintain the graphical identity of the project through digital and offline content;
  • manage the website of the project and feed it with new content;
  • manage the project’s newsletter;
  • actively manage the project accounts on various social media (Fediverse, LinkedIn, Owlstown);
  • assure the promotion of all the publications related to the project (academic publications, policy recommendations, interventions in the media);
  • will be the interface between the team members and the media.

What we offer

Gross salary: 27,500 Czech crowns / month (app. 1,100 euros)

Expected Start Date: August 1, 2026

Duration: 72 months part-time employment (0.5 FTE) (2x 36 months contract)

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

Conditions of eligibility

  • Previous experience with scientific communication, preferably in the domain of social sciences and/or humanities.
  • Completed Master’s degree in communication, journalism, digital marketing or a related field before September 1, 2026.
  • Fluency in Czech and in English (both written and spoken). Working knowledge of French would be a plus.
  • Capacity to work in a team.
