The monograph examines topics relevant to the concept of family policy for the capital city of Prague and contains facts and ideas addressing specifically identified problem areas based on a large amount of currently available data. The study is divided into six thematic parts. The first chapter is devoted to the demographic structure of Prague population and the composition of households. The 2nd chapter focuses on income, housing and the economic situation of families in Prague. The 3rd chapter analyzes employment and unemployment in the Prague region focusing on the situation of families with children. The 4th chapter deals with social and health services. The 5th and 6th chapters map out existing services for families with children and seniors and the conditions for the education of children from the beginning of compulsory schooling. The study ends with a number of recommendations which should be considered with regard to family policy approaches not only in Prague.
