Náboženství v evropském prostoru: cesta k ateismu, nebo detradicionalizované religiozitě?
The study analyses data from the Czech ISSP 2008. First, we analyze the traditional measures of religiosity. We show that the decline in church membership is typical for small churches with mass membership while smaller churches experience a relatively dynamic growth. Afterwards, we shift our attention from the religious behavior to beliefs. Stávají se pracovní dráhy mladých mužů nestabilními?
This paper explores the stability of men’s the first employment in the Czech Republic between 1989-2005. The first hypothesis based on globalization theory predicts an increase of job mobility. The second one expects that changes in job mobility reflect economic cycle, whereas third one predicts a temporal increase in the job mobility at the beginning of 1990s due to sector restructuring. Analyses of Social Cohesion Survey 2006 data do not confirm an increase of young men’s work mobility.

The chapter analyzes labor market in retirement and pre-retirement age and compares the periods 1995-1997 and 1998-2000. Results indicate that the period of economic recession after 1997 witnessed earlier exists from work to retirement even though the mandatory retirement age was growing.

The book is devoted to the life-course research. It focuses on the developments in the Czech Republic after 1989. Changes in family life and standard life course as well as non-standard life courses are target. The book covers the life-cycle from the assortative mating, leaving parental home, friendship, marriage and family formation, parenthood and divorces to situation of seniors and their mortality. Althogether 19 authors contributed to the book.…

Single Motherhood and Child Mortality in Sub-Saharan African: A Life Course Perspective
Single motherhood in sub-Saharan Africa has received surprisingly little attention, although it is widespread and has critical implications for children’s wellbeing.
