Western moral and political theorists have recently devoted considerable attention to the perceived victimisation of women by non-western cultures. Instituce, vědní politiky a gender aneb jak se z jasně narýsované cesty stává labyrint
The author analyses shifts in the discursive treatment of work-life balance issues from feminist approaches to an equal opportunities-based approach based on the argument of economic advantages and waste of talent. Using the examples of scientific mobility, publication activity and career progress she shows that the current measures adopted do not address the issue of work-life balance and implicitly build on traditional ideas about the roles of men and women in society. …

The chapter analyses supplementary open questions concerning the experience of domestic violence. Thanks to qualitative analysis it offers answers to some questions which the quantitative survey could capture only partially (motivations and experience of violence, reflection of one’s own behavior, recommendations). The chapter concentrates on how researchers in a natural science institution define success. It analyses differences in their notions of success depending on their position. The author argues that the normativity of excellence has an impact on which notion of success leads to visible career progress and that such a notion is not interesting or acceptable for some.
