The author analyses shifts in the discursive treatment of work-life balance issues from feminist approaches to an equal opportunities-based approach based on the argument of economic advantages and waste of talent. Using the examples of scientific mobility, publication activity and career progress she shows that the current measures adopted do not address the issue of work-life balance and implicitly build on traditional ideas about the roles of men and women in society. …

Based on data from a representative research of university graduates we explore their interpretation of the lower position of women on the labor market.
