Zpráva konstatuje, že trend zvyšování zastoupení mužů v dnes již velmi maskulinizovaném výzkumu nadále pokračuje a že se také zvyšuje horizontální segregace jak v oblasti sektorů provádění výzkumné práce, tak z hlediska oborů. V roce 2014 bylo zastoupení žen mezi výzkumníky nejnižší od roku 2001, dostáhlo jen 27,2 %.
