The book Family Solidarity and the Housing Market offers an original perspective on the functioning of the Czech housing market through the concept of pragmatic socio-economics, which brings together economic and sociological perspectives. Drawing on empirical research, it shows that housing decisions are shaped not only by economic rationality, but also by social norms and family support. Special attention is paid to the role of intergenerational transfers, whose effects are reflected in housing affordability, social inequalities, the life chances of young people, and attitudes toward the role of the state in housing provision. The publication contributes to a better understanding of the current housing affordability crisis and offers inspiration for further research as well as for housing policy.
