Possible approaches can be dividend into four groups: approaches using indicators of the socio-economic development in the governed area, approaches measuring government performance by means of a subjective evaluation, approaches focused on procedural and institutional effectiveness and the quality of government performance and approaches measuring government performance with the aid of aggregate indexes.…

Regionální rozdíly ve volebních výsledcích v České republice – parlamentní volby 1996-2006

The article deals with voting patterns of major political parties in the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic between 1996 and 2006. The results of analyses prove that major Czech political parties have quite stable voting patterns. The most of spatial variation in electoral preferences can be attributed to structural differences among districts. Key underlying factors explaining spatial variation of party electoral results are of socio-economic nature.…

Části obcí s vlastní samosprávou a bez ní: Vliv administrativního statusu části obce na její rozvoj

The paper deals with the analysis of socio-economic and infrastructural differences of small commu¬nities disposing of their own local government and communities which form a part of a bigger mu¬nicipality and don’t dispose therefore of their own local government. The authors seek an answer to the question what impact has the administrative status of a community on its development. The results indicate that the impact of the administra¬tive status on development is generally weak.…

Ovlivňuje finanční (ne)dostupnost bydlení porodnost v České republice

The article examined relations between statistic housing financial affordability and demographic behavior in regions of the Czech Republic. The conducted analyses proved that the lower is housing affordability in region the higher is the average age of mothers and the lower is the total fertility rate. However, housing affordability influence more timing of the childbearing than the total fertility rate.…

Czech Green politics after two decades: the May 2010 general election

This article examines the electoral results of the Czech Green Party in the 2010 elections to the lower house of the Czech Parliament, placing those results in both historical and sociological perspective. In particular, the article analyzes the social bases of Green Party support in past parliamentary elections, and identifies reasons for the party’s substantial decline in electoral support in 2010.…

Výběrová šetření a analýza agregátních dat - diskuse na téma použitelnosti různých přístupů v komparativních analýzách politického chování

The use of surveys has long been considered superior to aggregate data analysis in study of political behavior as it allows researchers to avoid danger of ecological fallacy. Article suggests the use of LOCCONTINGENCY method that combines the advantages of both possible approaches. Results provided by LOCCONTINGENCY method is tested by comparing with the survey results from four model regions. The strengths and weaknesses of the method evaluated and its practical usability is discussed. …
