Nové a alternativní přístupy k měření vertikální sociální struktury

Tento text navazuje na článek Standardní klasifikace sociálních tříd a statusu z SDA info 99/3 [Krejčí a Matějů 1999]. Nejprve uvádí stručný konceptuální rámec stratifikačních indikátorů, poté se zaměřuje na některé nové (UK NS-SEC a E-SEC) a alternativní přístupy k měření vertikálního sociálního postavení (CAMSIS, IES), přitom věnuje pozornost těm, které se používají v české sociologii (MDSS) a marketingovém výzkumu (ESG ABCDE).…

Okázalá spotřeba a sociální třídy v České republice v roce 2004

Theoretical implications of consumption as differentiating mechanism contributing to the collective identity of social class are discussed. I analyze differences in conspicuous consumption and its antipole taste of necessity (preferences for branded / unbranded goods) among social classes ABCDE on the data MML TGI 2004. There are differences between classes in both domains but along with influence of gender and age. The separate subpopulation of pensioners is stratified similarly as aged 21-60. …

Měření přemosťujícího sociálního kapitálu: Baterie PSK zjišťující odlišnosti v okruhu přátel

A tool for measuring Bridging Social Capital (BSC) is introduced – item battery on diversity in friendships (CVVM 2007-04). Convergent and discriminant validity is verified there are dimensions of BSC: different life-style, outgroups, different interests. Scales feature high reliability. Construct validity is assessed by SEM of positive effects of structural level of SC (friendship diversity) on cultural one (tolerance, trust). Suggestions for usage of BSC battery in later research are made. …

We deal with subjective interaction distances in stratification: concepts in sociology analysis of Bogardus scale (22 occupational categories). Hierarchy is correlated with prestige and ISEI with minor divergences. Gender differences can be explained by popular stereotypes. The effectiveness of selected housing subsidies in the Czech Republic

The goal of the article is to evaluate the effectiveness of the new housing policy in the Czech Republic as an example of a transitional society after the collapse of communism. The first part provides a brief history of the housing policy dating back to 1918. The second part presents the results of empirical tests of effectiveness (or equity) of selected housing subsidies applied during the transition.
