The article deals with the topic of migration from cities to villages in the Czech republic and in Austria and especially with the possibilities of social integration of the incomers. It is based on a qualitative research. The analysis is built on the subjective point of view of the incomers and their assessment of the situation. The author shows two different patterns of motivation for migration and presents a typology of relationships between the incomers and the village community.
