Století národní církve. Duchovní hledání Církve československé (husitské)

Zdeněk R. Nešpor. 2024. Století národní církve. Duchovní hledání Církve československé (husitské). Praha: Academia. 390 s. ISBN 978-80-200-3537-0.

The Czechoslovak Church (since 1971 the Czechoslovak Hussite Church) was founded in 1920 in an attempt to stimulate the new Czech reformation. The new church wanted to provide modern, nationally conscious religion for (all) the citizens of recently established Czechoslovak Republic. It gained almost a million members and became the second largest Czech church for most of the 20th century. Since then, the church went through a remarkable theological and organizational development, built an unforgettable cultural heritage of modernist church buildings, and it was among the first to open the spiritual office to women. The book is the first academic treatment of the century-long history of this important religious community. It does not close the eyes to the darker sides of the church’s history and analyzes the problems the church is faced with today.
