Nerozhodnutí voliči a volební kampaň

In this chapter, the authors are identifying key variables, which influence time-of-voting decision and the susceptibility for campaign effects. Using Czech Election Study 2006 data the authors analyze the role of late deciders in the campaign. This study exercises the differences between long time decided voters and late deciding voters from the perspective of their socio-demographic characteristics, attitudes and party choice as well. …

Vliv volební účasti na zisky politických stran

Text analyses the effect of turnout on the party support of different parties in the Czech Republic. After introduction of the main theories and research strategies of partisan effects of turnout hypotheses concerning this issue are tested. The results show that higher turnout is advantageous for the parties whose voters lack strong party identification (ČSSD and the Green Party). On the other hand, it brings lower gains to parties with disciplined electorate (ODS, KDU-ČSL and partly also for KSČM).…

Text tests the second-order-national-election thesis in the Czech Republic. The authors analyses two data files about voting behavoir: post-election survey EES 2004 and electoral returns from constituencies. They showed that majority of features of Euroepan Parliament election is in tune with second-ordernational-election thesis.
