This book studies the unique demographic behavior of Jews in Bohemia, starting from a moment in history when industrialization in Central Europe was far away in the future and when Jews were still living legally restricted lives in ghettos. Fertility, natural growth and migration in the Czech Republic: an urban-suburban-rural gradient analysis of long-term trends and recent reversals

This paper examines long-term trends in fertility and recent reversals in natural increase, net migration, and general fertility across residential contexts in the post-communist Czech Republic. Long-term differentials are analysed on the cumulative fertility of cohorts whose fertility was completed before and after the change in political regime in 1989. This book explains why Czech voters choose specific parties. The focus is on the long-term determinants of electoral behaviour (cleavages, left-right orientation, and party identification) and on four parties with long-term representation in the Czech parliament: ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM and ODS.
