Medallion

  • He studied sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. Since 2001, he has worked as a research fellow and methodologist at the Public Opinion Research Centre of the Institute of Sociology, Czech Academy of Sciences (serving as head of the department from 2004 to 2013). Between 2013 and 2022, he was the head of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, where he continues to lecture on sociological research methodology and public opinion sociology. His professional focus is on sociological research methodology, particularly survey research. In recent years, his thematic interests have included studying public reactions to extraordinary events with the potential for panic, long-term monitoring of work-life quality, and the role of beer and pubs in Czech society. He is the author of the Czech indicator for long-term monitoring of work-life quality (SQWLi) and the related certified methodology. He serves as the vice-chair of the Czech Sociological Society, a member of the Editorial Board of the Czech Sociological Review, and a member of the Expert Evaluation Committee of the ÉTA Program at the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR).
